video of the week: Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution

A lot of people have said a lot of bad things about Jamie Oliver. I was one of those people. The hype was way too big during the Naked Chef days with underfed yuppie ladies fawning over him repulsively, and so he was always going to face a backlash. However, then Jamie started doing some really cool stuff (actually, it turns out he was always doing cool stuff!). He was always empowering people with simple cooking, but then he started trying to change how we eat as a society in a series called Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Enjoy a clip from TED!

  1. I was a believer until he decided to take on the education system. Nothing to do with food, just a failed premise whereby kids who were ‘failed by the system’ are given a second chance. So far, so Jamie, right? Unfortunately rather than using people who actually have a background in pedagogy, he brings in a load experts who’ve got no idea how to teach. It’s horribly misguided and seems to have inspired me rant all over your post. Apologies for that.

On a lighter note, did you see he tried to take his food revolution to Ipswich?!
