Big Black beans: a simple basic vegan black beans recipe

I always thought black beans were troubled children. But it turns out I was overanalyzing the situation. They are just a little touchy.
Super Easy Black Beans
The Stuff:
1 cup of black beans, soaked in hot water that has been changed a few times.
1 onion, diced
3 cloves of garlic, sliced
oil
water
salt
garlic powder
And that is it.
The Method:
Fry the onion and garlic according to custom (ie the garlic for not very long, the onion until it is brownishly transparent). Use quite a bit of oil; it becomes the flavor ambassador to the beans later!
Add the beans. Then add 1 inch of water above the level of the beans.
Simmer for like an hour, stirring a bit if you become bored.
When the water evaporates off enough to expose the beans, add a 1/2 cup of water and boil it down again!
When the beans are nice and soft, let the water boil down to the liquidity of bean stuffz you desire.
Add salt and garlic powder to taste. You are good to go!
How easy was that?!
NOTE: do not add salt until the end, or else your beans will NEVER soften, and all beans deserve to soften. Why? Because your osmosis is all wrong, and the water wil never want to soak into the bean, limiting passive softening as well as stopping hot water entering the bean and thus cooking it!
